Downtown Helper in front of Beg, Borrow and Steele Art Company

Through the front door

I’ve been fortunate enough to be a professional artist nearly all of my adult life and the entirety of my career has been spent in the small town of Helper, UT: a historical railroad and mining area in the mountain desert of central Utah where I apprenticed as a recent art school graduate. A surprising amount of other professional artists have also cropped up, creating a unique artists’ enclave.

Over the years, I’ve had countless requests for art prints or other access to my work beyond original oil paintings, which are produced here in my studio - a converted soda bottling plant - then sent to my fantastic network of art galleries throughout the U.S. Because of the relative rareness of original art, though, it is typically priced out of reach for most and shown in luxury locations.

Beg, Borrow and Steele Art Company was born out of the concepts that I try to convey in my work: that some images are timeless and need to be experienced by all of us. The world has become so interconnected, it felt symbiotic that some of my large-scale original work could now be on display in what was once a dentist’s office on our historical Main Street. Visitors can come and view the art, and even if they could never own an original, they can take home a magnet, postcard, t-shirt or memory as souvenir of their art experience.

So come to Helper; see the beautiful landscape and drop by our little retail storefront. It’s a gift shop, It’s a gallery. It’s an art experience.
